The Story of the River Rats.

River Rats Running Club founder William Semon was inspired by a close friend to start a local running club. William had been running along the Delaware River and had noticed that there were many runners daily getting their miles in. After having multiple conversations about this with his friend, the friend said, “why don’t you start a running club?” After many months of consideration William decided to form the club.

William kicked around multiple names for the running club but felt that River Rats was a strong representation of the local runners that would be coming out to join. A River Rats personality is said to be, “intelligent, active and kind. They like socializing and treat people very gently and carefully, so it is easy for them to get along well with others and make friends. They have strong adaptability in all aspects.” Which all members of RRRC possess.

The clubs first run was held on March 3rd, 2019, it had snowed the night before and William woke up to 6 inches of snow and multiple messages from new club members that they were snowed in. William made his way to the path next to the Frenchtown Bridge and to his surprise there were 4 other runners ready to run through the freshly fallen powder.

Since the inaugural run membership has continued to grow and the miles have continued to be logged weekly.
