Mischief: A group of Rats

‍Join Us for a Scenic Run Along the Delaware!

We are excited to invite you to the inaugural Mischief on the River 5K, hosted by the River Rats Athletics 501(c)(3). Designed by runners, for runners, this event features a flat and fast, out-and-back course perfectly suited for participants of all abilities—whether you're aiming for a personal best or enjoying a beautiful day on the trail.

Note: This race is limited to the first225 participants, so be sure to register early! This event will take place rain or shine.

• Registration: 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM

• Race Time: 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM

• Awards Ceremony: 10:30 AM

Event Details

• Date: October 11, 2026

• Location: Frenchtown Elementary School, 902 Harrison St, Frenchtown, NJ 08825

• Timing: Provided by Pretzel City Sports.

• Amenities: The venue includes on-site parking and access to actual bathroom facilities.

• Course: Scenic, flat, out-and-back rail trail along the Delaware River, featuring an aid station near the turn-around point.

• Post-Race: Stick around after you cross the finish line for refreshments!

Registration Fees

• Early Registration: $39.99 (Until September 12th)

• Late Registration: $44.99 (September 13th – October 10th)

• Race Day Registration: $50.00 (Cash only)

Awards

• Overall: 1st Place Male, Female, and Non-binary. 1st place OVERALL in each gender category will receive a $50.00 gift card to Aardvark Sports Shop

• Age Group Awards: Presented for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Male, Female, and Non-Binary categories in the following age groups:‍ ‍

14 and under, 15–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40-49, 50–59, 60–69, 70+

Special Guest Announcement: Coach Derick "Ringo" Adamson at the Mischief on the River 5K!

We are thrilled to announce that two-time Olympian and legendary running coach Derick "Ringo" Adamson will be joining us for the Mischief on the River 5K!

Whether you're lining up at the starting line to set a personal record or cheering from the sidelines, don't miss the chance to meet one of the most accomplished and inspiring figures in distance running.

About Coach Derick "Ringo" Adamson

Two-Time Olympian: Derick represented Jamaica on the world's biggest stage, competing in the men's marathon at both the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He also represented his home country at the 1990 Commonwealth Games.

Back-to-Back Philadelphia Marathon Champion: A local legend in distance running, "Ringo" achieved back-to-back victories at the Philadelphia Marathon in 1984 and 1985. His winning time of 2:16:39 in 1984 set a Jamaican national marathon record, and he dominated the field again in 1985, crossing the finish line over 5 minutes ahead of the nearest competitor.

Multi-Time Coach of the Year: Beyond his iconic competitive career, Adamson has dedicated decades to developing collegiate athletes. He earned regional Coach of the Year honors at Gloucester County College in 1985 and went on to be named the NJAC (New Jersey Athletic Conference) Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year four times (2008, 2009, 2011, and 2012) before becoming the head coach for Rowan University's women's cross country program.

Want to challenge yourself and potentially win a free race entry to our 2027 Mischief on the River 5k?!

Well all you have to do is run "Naked!"

NAKED?! You might be thinking. Well have no fear you will be fully clothed but you'd be running without a watch or phone.

You will have a chance the morning of race day to submit your estimated finish time, you will then be asked to run the race "naked" no watch, no phone, and no pacer.

The runners that finish closest to their estimated time in all three gender categories will win free entry to the 2027 race!
